AIDA Pool Competition Safety Freediver Course Become a skilled and confident AIDA Pool Competition Safety Freediver and learn how to provide professional safety support during competitive freediving events. This intensive 2-day course combines theory, practical pool sessions, realistic rescue simulations, and video analysis. Participants learn how to recognize and respond to Loss of Motor Control (LMC), blackouts, and other complications that may occur during Static Apnea (STA) and Dynamic Apnea (DYN) performances. Course Duration 2 Days | Approximately 14 Hours of Training Day 1 – Foundations, Safety Roles & Rescue Procedures The first day establishes the essential knowledge and practical foundations required for pool competition safety. Pool Session – Physical Prerequisites (1.5 hours) Participants begin with a practical pool session to assess and demonstrate the physical skills required for competition safety. Theory I – Introduction & Competition Safety (2 hours) Topics include: Introduction to the course Overview of AIDA competitions Pool competition setup Roles and responsibilities of the competition safety team Understanding how safety personnel work together during an event Day 2 – Realistic Rescue Scenarios & Competition Readiness The second day focuses heavily on practical application, rescue simulations, analysis, and decision-making. STA – Static Apnea Rescue Scenarios (1.5 hours) Participants practice assistance and rescue procedures during simulated Static Apnea performances, including: Solo and team rescue situations Different types of blackouts and LMCs Athlete recovery and assistance Safe extraction from the pool Proper handoff to the medical team Theory III – Professional Conduct & Video Analysis (1.5 hours) Topics include: Safety team code of conduct Professional recommendations and best practices Analysis of real Static Apnea safety scenarios Review of videos recorded during simulated student practice Identifying correct procedures and areas for improvement DYN – Dynamic Apnea Rescue Scenarios (1.5 hours) Participants develop the specific skills required to safely supervise Dynamic Apnea Plus €20 AIDA Certification Fee
